With the coordination of METU CLIMATE, Middle East Technical University has selected its climate envoys to establish and strengthen student representation in sustainability efforts.

The call for applications titled "Become a METU Climate Envoy!," shared on May 19, 2025, attracted great interest among all undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students at METU. A total of 220 students applied. Following a meticulous evaluation process, 54 students from various faculties were appointed as METU Climate Envoys. All other applicants will continue contributing to sustainability efforts through the Climate Volunteers Network to be established within METU CLIMATE.

The Climate Envoys' first active participation took place at the "METU Climate Action Plan Co-Design Workshop" held on June 13, 2025, where they contributed to shaping METU's climate action vision.

In the coming period, the climate envoys will take part in projects raising awareness on sustainability issues, represent students at events, and collaborate with student communities to promote a culture of sustainability across the campus.
